Triathlon Training Class

Are you interested in learning about and training for a sprint triathlon? We are gathering interest to offer a spring class.
• 8 week class would prepare you for, and culminate with, competing in a sprint triathlon (a 525m pool swim, 12.5 mile bike and a 5K run)
• Instructed by Anne-Marie Schmidt
• Program trainings two times a week, one evening class and a weekend morning class. (additional trainings on your own)
• Participants don’t have to have triathlon experience, but should be comfortable in the water.

Clear Creek Recreation and Charlie’s Place Animal Shelter are teaming up to offer Hike with a Shelter Dog the 3rd Monday of each month. Hikes will leave from Charlie’s Place Animal Shelter, 500 W. Dumont Rd, Dumont at 10:00am. Cost is free and please sign up in advance at the Clear Creek Recreation Center (303-567-4822) or online.

Dog Obedience Classes

Clear Creek Recreation and Charlie’s Place Animal Shelter are teaming up to offer introductory dog obedience classes. Classes, taught by Casey Newman, will focus on basic obedience and agility. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and non-aggressive. (Individual one-on-one classes can be set up for aggressive dogs.)

2017 Wine and Bike

Hikes typically last 2-3 hours and transportation is provided. Cost of hike varies ($5-$10) depending on time and distance traveled. All other expenses are your responsibility (activity fees, lunch). Hikes typically begin at 10:00am, but check with front desk for start time and the time the van leaves the rec center as every hike is different. Burro Racing 101

Three sessions of instruction that will prepare you for the Idaho Springs 5-mile Pack Burro Race on July 23. All classes take place in Idaho Springs on Thursday nights. Class will cover the history of the sport, the proper care of your burro, how to properly pack a burro and how to run with your burro.

Community Happy Hour Bike Rides

Join CCMRD for a community bike ride from Idaho Springs to the Two Bears Tap and Grill and back.
(5 miles each way on the bike path) Two Bears is offering drink and food specials for our group. Meet at the Clear Creek Recreation Center. Please sign up in advance with the Rec Center front desk so we know how many to expect!

Film on the Rocks

There is no experience quite like that of seeing a show at the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. Each week for the summer season, a band will open up for a classic movie. CCMRD will enhance this experience by transporting you to and from Red Rocks for 2 dates (yet to be determined) this summer. Doors open at 6:00, bands start at 6:30 and movies at dusk. Open to a maximum of 10 people. Summer movie/band schedule TBA.

Janet’s Cabin Overnight
Summer Hut Trip

Summer Hut Trip! We have been checking out area huts during the winter months, and the time has come for a summer backcountry excursion.

Located at timberline in the Guller Creek Drainage next to the Copper Mountain Ski Resort, Janet’s Cabin is a 7 mile hike in along the Colorado Trail. This is an overnight trip and you will be carrying in all of your supplies and food! It is a physically demanding hike at high altitude. For those joining us, there is a hut informational meeting prior to the trip, where we will go over what to bring, how to pack your pack, and what to expect. Minors are welcome to attend but must be very strong hikers and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Limited spots available.

Dates and Times:
Tuesday, July 25, 9:00am – Wednesday, July 26, 5:00pm.
Fee: $55 per person. Includes transportation, accommodations and breakfast on 7/26.
All other meals and snacks are your responsibility.

Trails and Ales Hiking Series

Summer is a great time for exploring local trails and local ales (and whiskey). Clear Creek Recreation is teaming up with our local breweries and distillery to offer the best of both worlds! We will start with a 3-5 mile hike and finish up with happy hour refreshments. Hikes are free to attend (we will be accepting donations for the local food bank, Loaves and Fishes) and drinks will be on your own. Please register in advance with the Clear Creek Recreation Center. Spots are limited and hiking start times vary.

Weight & Cardio Guidelines


Children 8 and under are not allowed on weight or cardio machines.

Children 9 – 13 must be under the direct supervision (within arm’s length) by someone 18 or older to use weight and cardio machines.

Children 14-16 may use weight and cardio equipment alone after completing a weight-room orientation program with a CCMRD staff member.

A Personal Trainer will give an overview of equipment and familiarize you with our weight room!

Youth 14 to 16 must complete an orientation before they can use the equipment without a parent.
